Singa dan Tikus

Di dalam hutan belantara, seekor singa jantan sedang tertidur dengan nyenyak. Kepala yang besar menyandar pada kakinya.

Suatu waktu, tak sengaja berjalanlah seekor tikus di dekat singa yang sedang tertidur itu. Tikus awalnya tak menyadari, tapi lama-lama dia sadar bahwa saat ini sedang berjalan di depan singa yang sedang tidur.

Dan, tikus pun merasa ketakutan, lalu berlari sekencang-kencangnya. Tetapi, karena terlalu takut, tikus pun tak sadar kalau dia sedang berlari di atas hidung sang Singa yang tertidur.

Menyadari ada yang menggangu tidurnya, sang Singa langsung terbangun dan dengan perasaan kesal karena tidurnya diganggu, menangkap si Tikus kecil dengan cakar-cakar di tangannya.

“Jangan makan saya, Singa. Ampuni saya!” si Tikus berkata. “Jika kamu mau melepaskan aku sekarang juga, aku akan membalas kebaikanmu padaku suatu saat nanti.”
Singa pun tertawa langsung tertawa. Mana mungkin seekor makhluk kecil tersebut bisa membantu dirinya yang bertubuh besar dan gagah.

Tetapi, karena singa sedang tak ingin makan dan baik hatinya, tikus kecilpun dilepaskan saat itu juga.

Pada suatu hari, sang Singa pun sedang berburu makanan. Dia mencari mangsa di tengah hutan. Saat sedang mengintai mangsanya, sang Singa pun tak sadar ada jala pemburu yang dipasang. Dia pun tertangkap oleh jala pemburu tersebut.

Singa pun langsung panik. Dia mencoba melepaskan diri dari jala pemburu tersebut. Akan tetapi, karena jala terpasang sangat kuat, sang Singa tak bisa melepaskan diri.

Dia pun mengaum sekencang-kencangnya, hingga seluruh penghuni hutan mendengar aumannya.

Dan, suara auman sang Singa itu pun terdengar juga oleh si Tikus kecil yang pernah dilepaskan oleh sang Singa.

Seketika itu juga, si Tikus langsung sigap berlari menuju suara sang Singa, dan akhirnya berada tepat dimana Singa sedang terjaring jala pemburu.

Si Tikus kecil melihat sang Singa meronta-ronta berusaha membebaskan diri dari jala pemburu. Melihat kondisi itu, Tikus pun tidak tinggal diam begitu saja.

Tikus berlari menuju tali besar yang menahan jala, dan berusaha terus-menerus menggigit tali penahan jala sekuat-kuatnya hingga putus.
Usaha dari si Tikus pun berhasil.

Tali jala terputus, dan sang Singa pun bisa terbebas.

“Dulu, kamu tertawa saat aku berkata bahwa aku akan membalas kebaikanmu,” ujar si Tikus.

“Kini, kamu bisa melihat sendiri, walaupun tubuhku kecil, ternyata seekor tikus bisa menolong seekor singa yang bertubuh besar.”

Dan sang Singa pun juga mengucapkan terima kasih atas kebaikan si Tikus. Mereka pun bersama-sama kembali ke hutan.
